RUSNANO Takes Part in the Open Innovations International Forum
OREANDA-NEWS. April 06, 2015. RUSNANO Group will take an active part in this year’s Open Innovations Forum (the annual Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development) and the accompanying Open Innovations Expo. Both events will be held on October 14–16 at the Moscow Technopolis site. The exhibition presented by RUSNANO will feature innovative projects from residents of RUSNANO’s network of nanotechnology centers, as well as products created by RUSNANO portfolio companies.
On the first day of the Forum RUSNANO’s Chairman of the Executive Board, Anatoly Chubais, will participate in the key plenary session entitled “The Emerging Global Innovation Map: Closing the Gap Between Countries”, which will include addresses by the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, and the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Li Keqiang.
Also on the first day of the Forum the RUSNANO Chairman will take part in the Chief Technology Officers Summit (CTO Summit). This event is designed for the leaders of major Russian and international R&D departments, and offers a convenient format for the exchange of experience at the intersection of different sectors of the economy.
Anatoly Chubais then will participate in the Governors’ Session, which will focus on how regions choose technology priorities, supporting demand for innovative products, and issues of international cooperation. The session will be moderated by Oleg Fomichev, Russian State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, and twelve heads of Russian regions (Subjects of the Federation) will serves as panellists, including the Governors of Moscow, Leningrad and Novosibirsk regions, as well as the President of the Republic of Tatarstan. Representatives of the business community who have been invited to the Governors’ Session include the heads of RUSNANO portfolio companies: Alexei Tsarkov (member of the Board of Directors of PET Technology) and Oleg Perelman (CEO of Novomet Perm).
On the second day of the Forum (October 15), Anatoly Chubais will be the key speaker at the plenary session entitled “Composites: materials and technologies for the 21st century”, which is scheduled as part of the 2nd International Conference, “Composites Without Borders”, sponsored by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Other members of RUSNANO Group have also been invited to address the Forum. Alexei Gostomelsky, Managing Director of the Department for Development of Infrastructure and Engineering Companies within RUSNANO’s Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs (FIEP) will chair the panel discussion “
Representatives of RUSNANO portfolio companies will take an active part in Forum activities alongside senior officials of RUSNANO Group. The founder and President of Dauria Aerospace, Mikhail Kokorich will discuss the development and commercialization of space technologies in the panel discussion “The Next Leap in Space Discovery” and will also speak at the Open Innovations Talks on the theme of “Technology Startup: Ingredients for Success”. Elmira Safarova and Natalia Bastrikova, senior managers of BIND RUS and Selecta RUS will share their views on the achievements and prospects for nanomedicine as part of the respective panel discussion. Professor, and Doctor of Medicine, Alexei Butenko, representing PET Technology, will take part in a round table discussion on medical diagnosis. Another round table, “Optimal Strategies and Exit Models for Venture Investors” will include an address by Evgeny Zaitsev, one of the senior managers of RMI Partners, the management company of RusnanoMedInvest.
RUSNANO and its projects will also be well represented in the Open Innovations Expo, where the RUSNANO stand traditionally occupies a central position. This year for the first time the stand will focus on work by RUSNANO’s Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs (FIEP) and will show products made by resident companies at the 11 nanocenters, which have been set up with backing from FIEP, most notably TechnoSpark (Troitsk), the Ulyanovsk Technology Transfer Center and the SYGMA.Novosibirsk nanocenter. The exhibits (more than 40 in total) will be divided into three thematic sections devoted to different areas of nanotechnology application, as follows:
- Exhibits in the Industry section will include Russia’s first personal 3
D-printer , a picosecond laser for industrial processing of materials, ananti-ice coating based on aliquid-phase nanocomposite, a compact,high-efficiency compact convertor of solar to electric energy and ahigh-precision gallium-arsenide detector of diamonds in ore, as well as several developments using nanocomposite materials (brakes for rolling stock,vandal-proof stadium seats,cross-country skis, frames for racing bikes) and a uniquebronze-iron alloy that can replace expensive grades of bronze inheavy-duty machines and mechanisms. - At the Medicine section on the RUSNANO stand visitors will be able to view a system for genetic determination of sex and Rhesus factor in the 7th week of pregnancy, a system for express diagnosis of major infections, a universal fixation brace for damaged limbs and a bracelet for remote health monitoring, as well as an antibacterial toothpaste with nanoparticles and the first
vision-correction laser that minimizes damage to the cornea. - The Construction section features a
high-efficiency bioorganic cleaner for heating systems, anew-generation high-strength concrete,anti-corrosion paint for thermal insulation of pipelines and buildings, elasticheat-insulating plaster andspecial-strength fiberglass reinforcement, as well as safe and exceptionallyhard-wearing water-dispersion paints and products from modified timber.
The stand will also present various RUSNANO portfolio companies, including:
- PET Technology, which is setting up Russia’s first federal network of diagnostic
positron-emission tomography centers using private capital; - DSK Grad, an innovative manufacturer of panels for residential construction, which is working on
high-tech solutions for mass residential construction in a joint venture with the Russian developer, Morton; - OCSiAl, which has set up production in Novosibirsk of
single-wall carbon nanotubes with technical and cost features that are unique on the world market, and has also developed a technology that makes the mass application of carbon nanotubes economically viable for the first time.
As well as the major exhibition on the RUSNANO stand, FIEP is also organizing several events for visitors to the
As in previous years, one of the main events at the Forum will be the award ceremony of the RUSNANOPRIZE 2014, an international prize established by RUSNANO in 2009. The award aims to recognize inventors and scientists whose nanotechnology designs have proved their practical worth and have been brought into mass production with an annual output of at least USD 10 million. This year’s topic for nominations is Optics and Nanoelectronics. The winners of the Russian Nanoindustry Youth Prize 2014 (also established by RUSNANO) will be announced concurrently.
Several other events at the Open Innovations Forum will be dedicated to cooperation between RUSNANO and a group of Asian investors, the governments of Moscow city and Moscow and Ulyanovsk regions, and the
