At a offsite session at the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine the Government decided to increase salaries for investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine probing high-profile corruption crimes to UAH30,000.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized that last week at an enlarged meeting of the Interior Ministry's senior officials it was claimed that investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs probing high-profile corruption crimes will get UAH30,000.

"According to the today's decision of the Government, 63 investigators will receive UAH30,000 salaries - to take the first step in a real fight against corruption in the MIA system," he stressed.

"Combating corruption means a deregulation and reduction of the powers of the authorities. Combating corruption means a proper criminal investigation, bringing all the cases to justice and accountability, including prison terms defined by the Criminal Code. Combating corruption means a general economic situation, including wages, salaries, social, financial and medical support for those who are fighting against the mafia," Arseniy Yatsenyuk underlined.
