OREANDA-NEWS. Kaluga plant "PSMA Rus" intends to suspend the production of some of its models, as well as to fire with about 100 employees that are working on fixed-term contracts.

"Given the difficult situation in the Russian automotive market and further drop in demand that have the most negative impact on the C segment, Kaluga plant "PSMA Rus" will stop the production of models Citroen C4 Sedan and the Peugeot 408 in the period from April 27th to July 10th, 2015. This period will be treated as a simple and it will be appropriately paid for a staff”, - said the press service of the company. Simple will also affect partially the production line of SUVs Mitsubishi, which will be resumed on May 12th, 2015, says the agency "Prime".

In this case, "PSMA Rus" does not abandon its long-term plans for the development of local production in Russia, in particular, the launch of new models in Kaluga. "Existing capacities allow at any time to increase the production in accordance with the market potential”, - noted in the company.

In addition, from March 31st it will be terminated some contracts of employees in connection with the expiration of their actions. We are talking about approximately 100 contracts. In its turn, the Interregional Trade Union "Workers Association" (MPRA) said about the illegality of future cuts. "Management of the plant Peugeot-Citroen ignores the decision of the regional court of the illegality of the use of fixed-term contracts ... The practice of unjustified usage of fixed-term contracts at Peugeot threatens the actual elimination of protected labor relations not only in the enterprise, but also in the region", - believe in the MPRA.

Meanwhile, the governor of the Kaluga region, Anatoly Artamonov, assured that employees, who were laid off from the plant in Kaluga automotive cluster, will be employed in new enterprises in the region with the help of the authorities. He stressed that the regional authorities control the situation in the automotive cluster in the region and they will not throw in the trouble.
