OREANDA-NEWS. Only 14% of Russians are planning to buy a car within the next three years. And they prefer to do it by their own account without recourse of credit. Most of them are not going to make such expensive purchases in the next few years. These are the results of a nationwide survey, conducted by the National Agency for Financial Studies (NAFI) in February 2015.

Thus, the number of those who want to buy a car at their own expense has doubled (from 27% in 2014 - up to 58% in 2015). In turn, if a year ago, more than half of those who had planned to buy a car (58%) were ready to arrange a car loan, then now it is not more than a quarter (25%), writes, "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".

According to the head of the research department of the banking sector NAFI, Irina Lobanova, a sharp decline in demand for car loans on the one hand is explained by the increase in interest rates, on the other - by the doubts of potential buyers that they will be able to pay the full amount of the loan. "At the same time, if a mortgage is seen as an investment, and citizens suggest that property is a safe investment, then the purchase of a new car in the crisis period is considered rather as a luxury, especially with the additional costs associated with its service", - says the expert.

Answers about the causes of failure of auto loans, says Irina Lobanova, were divided almost equally: fourth of citizens refer for a large amount of overpayment because of the high interest rate. The same number of citizens says that it is problematic to make payments with their incomes. Among the other reasons there is a lack of confidence in the future and an unwillingness to live in debt. By the way, more men than women are going to buy a car completely at their own expense (66% and 47%, respectively). The share of people who want to buy by thei own is large in the age segment of 35-44 years. Moreover, they have a higher level of education.

With regard to geography, the most people who want to buy a car live in the European part of Russia. For example, in the Central Federal District 25% of Russians intend to buy a private vehicle, in the North West - 19% and in the Volga - 18%. In the Far East and Southern federal districts only 1% and 10% of respondents, respectively are going to buy a car.

The share of study participants, who are planning to borrow money from friends and relatives for a purchase of a car, is almost unchanged in recent years, ranging from 5% to 12%. At the same time, according to recent data, there are more women than men among them (19% and 8%, respectively), as well as young Russians aged from 18 to 24 years (20% versus 10% in the other groups).
