Pemex reports oil rig blaze: UpdateOREANDA-NEWS. April 02, 2015. Mexico's state-run Pemex reported a fire early this morning aboard its Abkatun Permanente oil rig in Campeche bay in the Gulf of Mexico.

Nearly 300 workers have been evacuated so far, and eight fire-fighting vessels have been sent to extinguish the blaze, Pemex said.

The company said one person died and 16 were injured, two seriously.

It did not say whether oil production has been affected by the fire, which has not yet been extinguished.

The blaze ignited in the dehydration and pumping section of the platform, Pemex said.
