Government of Ukraine approves a package of bills on decommunization
OREANDA-NEWS. April 02, 2015. At a recent session the Cabinet of Ministers unanimously approved a package of bills to condemn the Communist and Nazi totalitarian regimes in Ukraine, to prohibit their propaganda and declassify the archives of the repressive Communist authorities.
The Government emphasizes the legislative initiatives envisage the declassifying of absolutely unavailable for the ordinary citizens archives, including those that were damaged.
In particular, on the outcomes of the session there were submitted to the Verkhovna Rada bills "On conviction of Communist and National Socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the prohibition of their propaganda" and "On access to the files of the repressive authorities of the Communist totalitarian regime of 1917-1991” as well.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to the Parliament of Ukraine to urgently approve bills on decommunization: "The Government has drafted them. We appeal to the Parliament to adopt these laws and ban at last the Communist and Nazi ideology as twins, which are the ideologies against humanity".
