NPO Saturn has confirmed to EASA its competences in design, production, and aftermarket support of the SaM146 engine
OREANDA-NEWS. In the course of March 2015, NPO Saturn held three supervisory audits administered by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The audited fields of NPO Saturn’s activity were the design, production and repair operations with regard to the SaM146 engines.
Based on the audit results, the company has reconfirmed the required compliance thus having prolonged validity of the following company-held certificates for a new authorized time period:
- the Design Organization Approval certificate (DOA), compliance with the requirements of the EASA Part 21, Section A, Subpart J;
- the Production Organization Approval certificate (POA), compliance with the requirements of the EASA Part 21, Section A, Subpart G;
- the Maintenance Organization Approval (MOA) certificate, compliance with the requirements of the EASA Part 145.
According to NPO Saturn quality director Sergey Antropov, “EASA had acknowledged the high level of competence of the company’s employees involved in the design, production, and maintenance of the SaM146 engines.
The state-of-the-art quality assurance system adopted by NPO Saturn is focused on the unconditional observance of all the contractual obligations considering the human factor impact, and is based on the continuous improvement of the company’s production system, total and continuous training of the personnel, and the responsibility of the employees for the quality of their work.”
As a reminder, following the results of the previous successful certification campaigns, NPO Saturn is the only Russian company having a complete set of certificates granted by the Russian and European airworthiness authorities necessary for carrying out the design, serial production, and maintenance of commercial aircraft engines, i.e.:
2010 - the SaM146 engine type certificate granted by EASA and IAC AR;
2010 - organization and certification of the SaM146 engine serial production by IAC AR;
2011 - organization and certification of the SaM146 engine MRO operations in Russia (FAVT - Federal Air Traffic Agency);
2012 - the SaM146 engine production certification by EASA;
2014 - SaM146 engine MRO operations certification by EASA.
