OREANDA-NEWS. "Reform should be systemic and, and their implementation requires coordinated work of all branches of power, especially the Government and Parliament. The Agriculture Ministry counts on the support of the National Reform Council in implementation of Ministry’s initiatives," Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Oleksii Pavlenko noted at a meeting of the National Reform Council of Ukraine.

The reform of the agricultural sector is based on the 'Ukraine 2020' Strategy for Sustainable Development, Action Program of the Government, Coalition Agreement and Association Agreement with the EU. In addition, currently the Ministry is developing a comprehensive strategy for agricultural development and rural areas in 2015-2020 years.

There are more than 30 tasks for the Agrarian Ministry under the direction of reforms "New Food Policy". Tasks are divided into two directions - "New Economic Policy" (aimed at developing a control system for GMOs) and "Politics of International Assistance" (cooperation programs with the IMF, World Bank, EBRD, EIB, etc.).

"The most part of the provisions of the Government’s Program and the Coalition Agreement shall be implemented in 2015. However, their implementation must take legal basis for the strategic improvement of the agricultural sector," Oleksii Pavlenko noted.

"The Ministry is looking forward to the support from the National Reform Council for making and putting into action documents governing the issue of land reform - a long-term lease, transfer of state property to local communities. In general, the Parliament is expected to adopt about 10 bills needed by the agrarian field. In particular, regarding the verification of safety and quality of food and feed, limiting excessive state interference in economic activity," Oleksii Pavlenko noted.
