OREANDA-NEWS. DHL Express and AeroLogic, a joint venture of DHL and Lufthansa Cargo, are supporting the ongoing refurbishment of a Lockheed L1649A "Super Star". The project is based on a cooperation between DHL Express, Aerologic, Deutsche-Lufthansa Berlin Stiftung and Lufthansa Technik. After Lufthansa Technik restored the nose and main landing gears of the historic aircraft, DHL has now provided transport capacity in their global network to ship the parts to Auburn, Maine, in the United States, where the aircraft is being reassembled.

Only 44 models of the iconic aircraft were built. It was particularly famous for enhancing comfort on long-haul flights in the 1950s and was called "Queen of the North Atlantic".
