OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2015.  UTair Aviation has launched a program of regular flights between Moscow and the new airport of Sabetta, located in the northeast of the Yamal Peninsula in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Flights from Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow are performed as part of a large-scale joint project with Yamal LNG with Boeing 767-200 wide-body aircraft seating 249 passengers.

UTair Aviation performed its first technical flight to this unique airfield in December 2014, resulting in certification by the Rosaviatsia, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, for service to this location. “We are proud to participate in the realization of such a project which is important not only for the northwestern part of Siberia, but also for the entire country,” said UTair Aviation CEO Andrey Martirosov. “The capacity of Sabetta Airport to receive aircraft of all types gives a new impetus to the effective exploitation of natural resources of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and to improve accessibility to the region.”

UTair Aviation has engaged in active cooperation with major oil and gas companies for many years, ensuring the transport of shift groups to various sites, including the remote northern locations. An example of successful collaboration to establish air transport to remote locations can also be seen in UTair participation in the organization and performance of air transport operations to and from the Talakan Airport in the Sakha Republic, Yakutia.
