OREANDA-NEWS. St. Petersburg plant Hyundai has applied for a certificate of origin, which allows it to export cars outside the CIS. The chairman of the Municipal Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovation, Maxim Meyksin, informed about it but he didn’t elaborate the terms of receipt of the certificate and the beginning of the St. Petersburg plant exports outside the CIS.

"Cars Hyundai (from St. Petersburg) are available in the CIS, but they may be in demand in other foreign markets", - said Mr.Meyksin, who is cited by the agency "Interfax".

Recall, the director of "Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus", Choi Dong El, in February announced the possibility of expansion of exports of the plant. He promised that a detailed plan for exports outside the CIS will be ready by July of 2015. In 2014, according to Hyundai, the plant sent 26,117 cars Hyundai Solaris and KIA Rio for export to CIS, which represents 11% of total production.

Plant "Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus" was commissioned in St. Petersburg in September of 2010, the commercial output was started in January of 2011. The company produces models Hyundai Solaris and KIA Rio. Since the launch the plant produced about 820,000 vehicles, among which about 500 thousand cars were under the brand Hyundai.
