Mitsui OSK Line commissions latest coal carrier
OREANDA-NEWS. Japanese shipping firm Mitsui OSK Line has commissioned another new coal carrier, adding to its fleet of two new-generation vessels dedicated to deliver imports for Japanese power utilities.
Mitsui OSK Line today took delivery of the 104,819t Hakutaka, which was built by Japanese shipbuilder Sanoyas Shipbuilding at its Mizushima shipyard in Okayama prefecture. The ship will transport coal for Japanese power utility Tokyo Electric Power under a long-term consecutive voyage service contract.
The new vessel is the third is a series of vessels that can meet tougher international environmental regulations, developed jointly by Sanoyas and Mitsui OSK Line as a dedicated coal transport vessel. Mitsui OSK Line last year commissioned the 104,000t Akatsuki and 91,094t Soma Maru.
