OREANDA-NEWS. Sales of trucks "KAMAZ" for the first two months of 2015 fell by 41% to 2.3 thousand units. The source close to the company informed about it the agency “RIA Novosti”, by adding that the decline of market of trucks with full weight of 14-40 tons, on which is mainly presented the products of KAMAZ, was 48% - up to 4.5 thousand cars. The share of KAMAZ in the Russian market in January and February was 52%, says the agency "Prime".

Meanwhile, KAMAZ offers to create an artificial city with a testing ground for unmanned vehicles, the cost of the project is estimated at 5 billion Rubles. "We wrote to the Ministry of Industry of Russia, the proposal was supported in principle," - Chief Designer of innovative products R & D Center of KAMAZ Sergey Nazarenko informed the agency "Tass". According to him, KAMAZ before May 1st will prepare the details of its program to create the unmanned vehicles for 18.5 billion Rubles.

"Five billion of this amount is intended to create a polygon with an artificial city”, - said Mr.Nazarenko. Here trucks without drivers will test vehicles in the traffic, the intersection of complex intersections and pedestrian crossings; layouts cars, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians will be placed at the site.

"Polygon with artificial city is at Volvo in Switzerland, the construction of such a site is implemented by Daimler in Germany ... In Russia there is no such a polygon, and we have a need for it”, - said the chief designer of KAMAZ.

KAMAZ will start to test the first unmanned truck from July, which is created on the basis of the production model KAMAZ - 5350 with all-wheel drive chassis 6x6, the plant plans the development about 20 prototypes of unmanned vehicles for different purposes up to 2025.

As noted Mr.Nazarenko, developments of KAMAZ in unmanned vehicles can be used by other domestic car plants and enterprises for the production of agricultural machinery. "Unmanned vehicles are controlled by AI using computer vision, the created complex can operate not only on the wheel, but also on tracked vehicles”, - he explained.

Different unmanned vehicles do their tasks, said Mr.Nazarenko, some of them are created for savings, such as dump trucks, some - for the safety of people, for example during fighting fires at military depots.
