OREANDA-NEWS. According to the agency “Auto-Dealer-SPb", in January-February of 2015, the St. Petersburg plant Toyota, GM, Nissan and Hyundai produced 54,200 new passenger cars, which is less by 15% than the same period of the last year. In February, the companies assembled 25,000 new cars - it is less by 26% than in February of 2014.

Last time the increase of production of cars in St. Petersburg by the results of one month was recorded in April of the last year. Thus, the indicators of the St. Petersburg car industry fall ten consecutive months.

"Prospects for growth, even taking into account not the best performance of the last year, have not seen yet this year”, - says the CEO of “Auto-Dealer-SPb", Michael Chaplygin. – “Refusal of St. Petersburg Company development by GM and plans to produce Qashqai at the plant Nissan closer to the end of the year do not provide the preconditions for increasing the production of cars in the city.

In February at GM it was launched SKD-assembly of Cadillac Escalade. But given the demand for the model in Russia and statements of concern about the preservation of the site this year, it should not be expected a major contribution to the production of cars in St. Petersburg from Escalade.

The share of the St. Petersburg car industry with respect to the all-Russian production volume of cars in January-February was 25%. "This figure was made possible because of the frequent stops of car factories in Russia, for example, in February, the conveyors of such enterprises as "Renault Russia" and "PSMA Rus” did not work", - said Mikhail Chaplygin.

Totally four car plants of St. Petersburg produce 14 car models: Chevrolet Cruze, Opel Astra, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Cadillac ATS, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac SRX, Cadillac Escalade, Nissan Teana, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio. In January-February of 2015 three cars, produced in St. Petersburg - Hyundai Solaris, KIA Rio and Toyota Camry - entered the Top-25 of best-selling models in Russia.
