OREANDA-NEWS. Association "Russian Automobile Dealers" (ROAD) is concerned about the complete cessation of sales of Opel and a sharp reduction of the model range Chevrolet. The victims of this decision of the world's automaker may be millions of Russians - the owners of Opel and Chevrolet, as well as 284 official dealers of these brands (137 - Opel and 147 - Chevrolet).

"ROAD insists that after leaving the Opel brand from the Russian market and business reformatting of Chevrolet GM must continue the full implementation of all warranty obligations to the car before the end of the warranty period, and also provides service station dealers with everything necessary for a quality service and repair over the next 10 years”, - written in the official appeal, prepared by the press service of the Association.

In addition, ROAD applies to the Russian representation of Chevrolet and Opel to provide assistance to its dealers in the implementation of stock of vehicles and parts, and later - to buy cars, spare parts, special equipment and special tools, means of identification and to determine the amount of compensation to its Russian partners.

In the development of these brands dealerships for the last 15 years invested tens of billions of rubles - Russian private investors. The dealer network of these brands employs about 25 thousand people - skilled managers and technicians. As a result of the decision of GM the most of these dealerships will be closed and their staff will replenish the number of unemployed.

ROAD also draws the attention of regulators that in the last three months - it is the second fact of the unexpected departure of the global automaker from the Russian market. Previously, the termination of sales of SEAT cars in Russia was announced by the concern Volkswagen. In both cases, the decision to terminate the dealer contract was made unilaterally - Russian partners of automakers found themselves facing the completed fact. It is necessary to legislate the obligations of the holder of the brand to its partners in the event of his departure from the local market as well as to determine the mechanisms of compensation for loss of dealers.

There is the world experience of leave of automobile brands from local markets. For example, Chevrolet brand informed authorized dealers of the brand in 2012 about the stop of sales in Europe in January of 2016. Most dealers of Chevrolet and Opel of Russia received information about the leave from the media, but the official documents from the automaker were not received yet - a situation is unacceptable for a civilized market...

ROAD Association intends to defend the interests of the dealer community, and it has the right to initiate the preparation of class actions of Chevrolet and Opel dealers. In addition, ROAD intends to monitor the situation, which is now emerging with the brand SsangYong.
