OREANDA-NEWS. For the seventh consecutive year and eighth time overall, Peru's Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) in the capital city of Lima has been chosen by passengers as the "Best Airport in South America 2015". The honor was presented recently at the Skytrax World Airport Awards to Lima Airport Partners S.R.L. (LAP) - a Fraport AG majorityowned subsidiary which has been managing and developing this aviation hub since 2001.

Passengers selected LIM as South America's favorite airport because of its quality service and professional operations, pleasant ambiance and outstanding commercial offerings. The World Airport Awards are presented annually by Skytrax, a London-based market research and consulting firm specializing in the air transport industry.

Fraport AG's executive board chairman, Dr. Stefan Schulte, praised the special honor bestowed on Lima Airport: "We congratulate the entire team at Lima Airport Partners for their unswerving commitment to service and operational excellence. Throughout Fraport's global family of airports, we are focused on enhancing service quality and the travel experience of passengers."

Accepting the honor at the World Airport Awards ceremony in Paris, Lima Airport Partners' COO Sabine Trenk exclaimed: "We are very pleased and proud to have won this award for the seventh time. The award reflects the significant level of passenger and user satisfaction (95%) we were able to achieve in 2014." Lima Airport Partners CEO Juan Jose Salmon stressed the airport's service orientation: "The fact that we have received this award for the seventh consecutive time shows our ongoing dedication to successfully provide high standards of service quality, security and efficiency. This award is an incentive for us to keep on going the extra mile to satisfy the expectations of our passengers and airlines."

Serving some 15.7 million passengers in 2014, Lima Airport recorded a five percent jump in passenger traffic year-on-year. Almost 2.7 million passengers used LIM in the first two months of 2015, up 9.1 percent compared to the same period last year. Based on more than 13 million survey questionnaires and covering 550 airports worldwide, the 2015 World Airport Awards were completed by 112 different nationalities of airline customers during the survey period from May 2014 to January 2015. This independent annual survey examines traveler experiences for various airport service and product areas such as check-in, arrivals, transfers, security and immigration, shopping, and departures at the gate.
