OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2015. The Government of Ukraine has decided to allot from the Reserve Fund a sum of UAH 865 million for the construction of the security fortifications, following a certain emergency procedure, thus affording to save the lives of Ukrainian military personnel and to provide security throughout the entire border territory.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the session of the Government of Ukraine.

He stressed that within the framework of the objectives elaborated by the President of Ukraine, the Government of Ukraine and the National Security and Defence Council, it is crucial to start the construction of the security line.

"The main thing is to prevent the Russian terrorists from illegal crossing the security line. We must prepare for each scenario to be developed," said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

The Prime Minister appealed to Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko to join efforts with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine to immediately launch the process of selection of a general contractor, other contractors, use of funds and construction of relevant facilities.

Apart from that, Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed the State Border Service of Ukraine concerning the erection of engineering facilities at the border between Ukraine and Russia, "The process is underway, but it’s too long. It's good that we managed to cut the cost of the design work twofold. Now we should stir up the construction of the security line and the erection of engineering facilities at the Ukrainian-Russian border".
