OREANDA-NEWS. Production of Volkswagen and Skoda cars in Nizhny Novgorod since the beginning of March was moved to the four-day working week. The Director of Public Relations "Volkswagen Group Rus", Natalia Kostyukovich, informed about it the agency “TASS”. "The demand for cars in the Russian market worsened during the first months of 2015. In this regard, the company GAZ, which is undertaking contract assembly of Volkswagen and Skoda models in Nizhny Novgorod, reduced the weekly production program on Friday and it transferred to a four-day workweek in the  production of Volkswagen Group Rus until the end of April", - “Gazeta.RU” cited Mr.Kostyukovich.

Meanwhile, the CEO of the Volkswagen, Martin Winterkorn, acknowledged that it has become more difficult to sell cars in Russia because of the devaluation of the ruble. "Because of the situation with the ruble in Russia has become more difficult to sell cars Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen”, - he said.

Since May 25th of this year, Ford plant in Vsevolozhsk can go to the mode of operation for three days a week, reports "Interfax", citing a source in the enterprise. According to the union representative, information on the possible transition to a three-day operation of the plant was announced by the administration of trade union members, but it was not announced en masse to the workers. Nevertheless, according to a source at the plant there is already a corresponding order. The press service of Ford noted that such a schedule is considered, among other options to save jobs, but the decision was not taken yet.

In addition, the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg plans to stop the production from March 16th to 31st, 2015, the head of the Organization Department of interregional trade union "Working association", Peter Prinev, informed the agency "Interfax". The press service of the Russian division of Nissan has not confirmed the date of downtime, but it was noted that "in order to minimize costs from February the plant switched to lower productivity, and therefore the company may suspend the production in the near future”. "Despite the economic situation, Nissan believes the Russian car market is perspective and it sees in it the potential for further investment”, - emphasized in the company.
