Huawei unveils new data center servers and cloud storage technologies at MWC2015
Huawei’s X6800 is a high-density DC server adopting Intel® Xeon™ E5 v3 processors for cloud computing and Big Data applications. With an innovative architecture, the X6800 allows flexible deployment with high reliability and stability, excellent performance, a small footprint, and high energy efficiency. It is an optimal platform for cloud computing and Big Data applications and accelerates the evolution to new-generation data centers for telecom carriers. It also helps reduce total cost of ownership and improves the operational efficiency.
Huawei’s RH8100 server uses Intel® Xeon™ E7 v2 processors and provides up to 60 reliability, availability, serviceability (RAS) features and powerful computing performance to ensure reliable operation of key services, such as business and operational support systems (OSS/BSS). Huawei’s RH8100 also supports the evolution of next three-generation processors and disk partitioning technologies, and helps customers maximize return on investment.
"Huawei is dedicated to developing high-quality servers for DC consolidation and optimization and has a long story of cooperation with carriers. Under our customer-centric philosophy, customers' concerns provide inspiration for our innovations and designs. With profound expertise and rich experience, Huawei can provide products and solutions with differentiated core competitive strengths to help customers' business transformation," said Mr Qiu Long, General Manager of Server Marketing with Huawei’s IT product line.
Huawei’s OceanStor V3 converged storage system, uses OceanStor OS as its core and a future-oriented cloud architecture to realize an unprecedented five level of convergence: the true convergence of SAN and NAS, the convergence of entry-level, mid-range and high-end storage, the convergence of SSD and HDD technologies, the convergence of primary and backup storage, and the convergence of heterogeneous storage. The system can provide converged data storage for large databases, OLTP/OLAP, file sharing, cloud computing, and other application types. According to IDC report, the global revenue growth rate of Huawei storage ranked No.1 for consecutive 5 quarters up to 3Q14.
Fan Ruiqi, President of Huawei Storage Product Line, said, "OceanStor OS is the soul of Huawei Storage and the key to the cloudification of data centers. Data centers, along with big data storage devices and information infrastructure, all things Huawei invests in, are vital components to the process of cloudification. Huawei OceanStor OS, whether in a public cloud, self-built private cloud, or hybrid cloud environment from Huawei or different vendors, provides equally strong service capability, allowing barrier-free data flow to meet customers' ever-expanding storage requirements."
At the 2015 MWC, Huawei is also showing its proprietary NC high-speed interconnection chips, iBMC management chips, and PCIe SSD high-performance storage cards. The NC interconnection chip implements high-speed interconnection of more than eight processors, realizing larger-scale system expansion. It also uses industry-leading high-speed NI interfaces to implement high-speed data processing and transmission. A large number of data processing and concurrent access usually require large I/O. Huawei PCIe SSD high-performance storage cards can provide targeted application acceleration for various types of services.
Huawei has become the fourth largest provider of servers by market share, having achieved the fourth largest share of servers in each of the last five consecutive quarters.
