OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2015. The task of the Government in the agrarian and industrial complex is to ensure food security of the country and significantly increase agricultural exports. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated this during the Government’s public report on its first 100 days on Thursday, March 12.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that of the end of 2014 the agricultural sector had demonstrated a 16% growth: "It was the only sector which enabled the Ukrainian economy to increase and allowed the Ukrainian economy to get dollars to stabilize the foreign exchange market."

The Prime Minister mentioned a range of tasks in the agrarian and industrial complex for the current year, the first - food security: "We must sow and gather the crop, feed the country with cheap and quality products with a label "Made in Ukraine."

He recalled that a sowing campaign had already begun and asked the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to do everything in order to provide farmers with fuel, fertilizer and equipment, "In order to sow the crop and feed the country."

The second task, according to the PM, concerns the export potential of the agrarian and industrial complex, "We must significantly expand our export position and sell for export."

He reminded that Ukraine had already used almost all the quotas on supply of agricultural products to the European Union, "Ukrainian products are bought in Europe."

"The agricultural sector is one of the main economic engines of the country. Some countries have oil, others gas, while we possess "rich" soil, hard-working people and high quality food industry, which should meet the standards of the European Union," Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized.
