OREANDA-NEWS. World production of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in 2014, according to an international organization of automakers of OICA, was 89,5 million units (+ 3% compared with 2013 year).

Russia, despite a significant reduction in vehicle production in 2014 (it was produced 1.2 million units; -13.6% compared to the same period of the last year), has managed to keep in the ranking of countries with the largest volume of passenger cars and commercial vehicles its 11th place, which was held since 2012. In its best year for the car market - 2008, Russia ranked 12th in the world by production. Then, in 2009, it moved to the 18th place. Market recovery helped to climb to the 14th place by production in 2010 and to improve it to 12th in the world in 2011.

In the first ten of leaders by production of automotive equipment in the world there are China, the US, Japan, Germany, South Korea, India, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Canada. Just behind Russia, on the 12th place, there is Thailand (it was produced less by 6.6 million vehicles than in Russia), on the 13th place - France (it was produced less by 69.6 million vehicles than in Russia).

Most countries from the TOP-20 finished 2014 with positive dynamics. The exceptions were, apart from Russia, only Thailand (- 23.5%), Brazil (-15.3%), where the production has fallen more than in Russia, India (-1.5%). In the other countries – there is an increase in the range from minor (+0.1% in South Korea and the United Kingdom) - up to an impressive (+46.7% in Iran).
