OREANDA-NEWS. Advertising and branding agency Nyalu Communications has bought Xanadu Printing and Graphics, a litho printing business based in Booysens, Johannesburg.

Nyalu Communications, a level one B-BBEE contributor, offers a range of marketing communications solutions to its customers, including printing, branding, graphic design and media buying services. As a longstanding client of Bytes Document Solutions, the largest Xerox distributor in the world, Nyalu Communications is already a well-established one-stop digital print service provider. The acquisition of Xanadu Printing and Graphics is in line with the company's strategy to grow its highly successful and busy print room, and is a key component of its long-term business strategy.

"Litho is used for cost-effectively producing large volumes of high-quality printed material," says Ephraim Mashisani, CEO of Nyalu Communications. "By incorporating litho into our print business, we will be able to take advantage of both technologies so that we can pick the correct solution for each particular job depending on weight and type of stock, turnaround time required, number of copies or run length, and the quality required."

Xanadu Printing and Graphics, formed three decades ago by Robert Robinson, has a solid client list and a loyal and experienced staff complement. "The business is ready for growth and I believe that Nyalu Communications will take it to the next level," says Robinson. "Having observed Ephraim and his team at work, we could not have found a better partner to invigorate the business and to capitalise on our extensive client base."

Nyalu Communications bought three Xerox digital presses in 2013 to enable its employees to produce more work in the print room in less time, and to fulfil clients' increasing demand for smaller print runs and quick turnaround times.

"Digital printing does not require setup as is required with litho, nor is there a need to make plates," says Jenny Attewell, production printing executive, production solutions group, Bytes Document Solutions. "Digital is also less expensive for shorter runs, but litho is more cost-effective for long runs, and is best suited to applications like books, magazines, postcards and marketing type material. The combined offering will allow Nyalu to do more. The company will be able to introduce new products and services to attract new customers and get more work from its own clients, and Xanadu's. We are proud to be the company's partner in this exciting new phase."
