AvtoVAZ began the test of a new crossover Lada XRAY
OREANDA-NEWS. AvtoVAZ is testing a new model Lada XRAY in the "body" Renault Sandero, on base of which the promising crossover was developed. The head of the project Lada XRAY, Oleg Grunenkov, said about it by adding that the tests are held in Germany.
"The first winter calibration will be carries out the on the so-called mules. We re-developed for this purpose one car Sandero with this power unit. This car is currently being tested in Germany. The next car will be assembled Lada XRAY. This car is equipped with a 1.8-liter engine and gearbox AMT. Assembly of the car is planned for April of this year. It will be prepared for summer calibration tests. The last stage of the calibration will be held at the beginning of winter this year. Thus, we will be ready for the start of commercial production with already exact setup and calibration of new power trains," - said Mr.Grunenkov, who is cited by "AvtoSreda”. Recall that the serial production of crossover will be started in December of this year.
As it was reported previously, XRAY will be equipped with three motors: AvtoVAZ’s units of 1.6 and 1.8 liters capacity of 106 and 123 HP, respectively, as well as engine Renault H4MK with volume of 1.6 liters and capacity of 114 HP. For crossover there are presumed two transmissions - "mechanics" of the French brand, and automated manual transmission, the development by AvtoVAZ.
As previously explained in an interview with "AvtoSreda", Oleg Grunenkov, Lada XRAY will be built on the basis of Sandero Stepway, but AvtoVAZ’s model is not re-faced version of "French" car. "As for us Lada XRAY is a car of new segment, we minimize the risks that are traditionally happen in the creating of a new class of vehicles. Therefore, we chose the platform of the alliance Renault-Nissan - XRAY will be built on the basis of Sandero Stepway, but it is not "turning inside out”. Because the rest structure - body, side plate, and rear doors - all this is changed. That is, in matters of side impact they work differently. Also it was also changed clearance, space in the cabin and so on. Our car has a little different level and even another class. But we use the development of the alliance. First of all, we use the base body superstructure. In addition, elements of the chassis, although we have the upgraded chassis and it was configured under the Russian roads”, - says Oleg Grunenkov.
