Cosmo Oil Announce name of New Company
OREANDA-NEWS. Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd., Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K., Sumitomo Corporation, and TonenGeneral Sekiyu K.K. announce the name, corporate logo and corporate organization of a new company to be established on April 1, 2015. The formation of the new company follows the conclusion of an agreement among the above four companies on August 5, 2014, for the integration of their LP gas import and wholesale businesses, and the subsequent conclusion of an absorption-type spin-off agreement on December 18, 2014, between each of the four companies and Cosmo Petroleum Gas Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd., in preparation for the integration of their LP gas import and wholesale operations.
The name Gyxis is a combination of the words "gas" and "Pyxis" (a constellation that represents a mariner's compass), which expresses our intent to be a company that is firmly oriented toward the future of the LP gas business.
The corporate logo consists of a white loop encompassing a green area, which represents the environment, on a blue oval, which represents the earth. This composition illustrates our intent to maintain concern for the environment in our LP gas business. The loop represents both alpha and infinity. As alpha, the loop conveys our intent to produce extra value, referred to as "plus alpha" in Japanese, from the synergy of our four companies. As infinity, it symbolizes our intent to maximize this value to the fullest. The robustness of the loop represents our firm commitment to both the delivery of a safe, stable supply of LP gas and protection of the environment. The white of the loop symbolizes integrity, reliability and intelligence, while the green inside the loop symbolizes the bonds between people, safety, peace of mind, and youth.
The LP gas import and wholesale operations (LP gas import/procurement, shipping terminal operation, logistics, and domestic wholesaling) and overseas trading operations of the four corporate groups will be consolidated into an integrated structure to create one of Japan's top-class LP gas import and wholesale companies. To achieve that aim, the four corporate groups will strive to:
(1) Ensure reliable LP gas supply in Japan and strengthen partnerships with specified agents
(2) Improve logistics efficiency and cut redundant costs
(3) Enhance operational efficiency and diversify sales channels
(4) Diversify procurement sources/methods and reduce procurement costs, and actively develop overseas trading on a global scale to ensure the new company is competitive.
