Yesterday, there were three major events in the automotive world - the 100th anniversary of Viktor Polyakov (the first CEO of AvtoVAZ and Minister of the automotive industry of the USSR), the opening of the International Motor Show in Geneva and the conference "Automotive market of Russia - results and forecasts", which took place in Moscow.
Key figures of Russian car market, which were announced at the Moscow conference in the report of director of "AUTOSTAT" agency, Sergey Tselikov, are not too pleased:

- in 2014 it was produced less of passenger cars by 9.7% than a year before, trucks - by 25.7%;
- the market of new commercial vehicles fell by almost 21%, in the segment of light commercial vehicles (LCV) for twelve months it was sold less of vehicles by 15% in compare with 2013 and it was sold less by a quarter of new buses;
- in 2014, banks issued less of car loans by 22% than a year before. The share of sold cars on credit was 40.5% (in 2013 this figure was 48.0%);
- Russia with 2.5 million (-10.3%) of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles by the results of 2014 occupied the eighth in the world; it dropped to the third place in the European "championship".
Nevertheless, the experts of "AUTOSTAT" noted that Russia remains an attractive potentially for automakers – there is a huge market: the country still has a low level of motorization (284 cars per thousand people against European 400-500) and old parc. Dynamics of Russian car parc demonstrates it clearly.
