OREANDA-NEWS. Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, "Epson") today announced it had acquired a majority stake in software development company Avasys Corporation, and that the latter had as a result become a subsidiary company.

Avasys has capability and expertise in areas such as developing embedded software for information-related and industrial equipment, and in creating cloud-based applications. Since Epson first took an equity stake in 1990, Avasys has fulfilled its role as a business partner by contributing to the overall competitiveness of Epson products by developing embedded software for printers.
With Avasys' wealth of knowledge about Epson products, Epson believes that making the company a subsidiary will boost the Epson Group's ability to plan and develop software, and will accelerate its efforts to create a range of ever more attractive products including wearables and industrial equipment.

Going forward, Epson aims to continue to leverage its innovative technologies to provide products and services that exceed the expectations of its customers.
