OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, and the Krasnoyarsk Territory government have signed an agreement on cooperation in telecom sector development. The operator is planning to invest over 1.2 mn rubles into development of the region’s mobile infrastructure and implementation in 2015-2017.

The agreement has been signed by Tele2 and the Krasnoyarsk Territory government at the XII Krasnoyarsk economic forum. The document is aiming to set foundation for cooperation between Tele2 and the Krasnoyarsk Territory government in telecom development, an increase in investment into the region’s economy and implementation of social and economic projects.

The investment project implies development and expansion of network coverage on the territory of the region – providing residents with high-quality voice and high-speed wireless Internet. Thus, signing of the document is solving important tasks in telecom sector development and support for socially oriented projects.

Mikhail Noskov, CEO at Tele2: “Signing of the agreement on cooperation in telecom development with the Krasnoyarsk Territory government is a practical embodiment of the Tele2 strategy that also implies creation of the effective mechanisms for fruitful work with regional authorities. The Krasnoyarsk Territory is one of Russia’s biggest regions with variegated population density in the north and in the south, network coverage is neither uniform. We will work over network expansion and development of the high-speed wireless Internet. Tele2’s key task is to make high-quality and affordable mobile networks affordable to as many residents as possible.”

Viktor Zubarev, deputy chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Territory government, minister for economic development and investment policy in the region: “We all know how important modern infrastructure is for the development of the social and economic development of the region, how many citizens from different territories are deprived of an opportunity to use mobile services and Internet. The reality is such that new approaches and mechanisms of public private partnership are in great demand. Singing of such an agreement is strategically important to eliminate digital divide in the region.”
