MIA Is "Pixel Perfect" in Newest Pixorama Portrait by Eboy
OREANDA-NEWS. Miami International Airport has joined the ranks of major global cities such as Tokyo, Paris, Rio, Berlin and London as the first airport to receive the "pixel perfect" treatment from the international pixel artists collectively known as eBoy. The latest in a series of works that depict pixelated visions of cities around the globe, the world of MIA is now on display at MIA's Central Terminal E and available as a poster for purchase by passengers who wish to take this re-creation of MIA home.
"MIA continues to be on the cutting edge of airport technology and art, so it's fitting that we are the first airport in the world where the two would come together in this unique, eye-catching work," said MDAD Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. "What makes this project even better is that visitors and fans of MIA can order their own poster version of the pixorama as a reminder of our iconic airport."
Described as "a mix between pixel and panorama," pixoramas are created pixel by pixel on a computer. The artwork was created through a partnership between Mars Design Miami and the eBoy collective whose first collaboration was for Marseille, France, in 2009. Mars Design and eBoy describe how the MIA pixorama "gathers key places and images with important companies, passengers and even employees from MIA." They further state how it is "the first representation of an international airport where art is already omnipresent."
Mars Design Miami is an art and design agency owned and managed by the French designer Nicolas Mannoni, while eBoy is an art group founded in Berlin in 1997 by Kai Vermehr, Steffen Sauerteig and Svend Smital.
