MMK Increases Supply of Metal for Automotive Industry by 18%
OREANDA-NEWS. On the fronts of the struggle for import substitution of Western counterparts in the automotive industry -there is the first major victory: Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works Plant (MMK) in 2014 has increased the supply of metal products for the automotive companies by 18% compared to 2013 - from 353 thousand to 415 thousand tons.
The main prerequisites to increased production and shipping were the development and acceptance of high-quality steel grades for automakers in the new mill 2000 of cold rolling and hot rolling mill 5000, writes metalinfo.ru.
The new cold rolling mill in 2000 allows the production of almost any brand of automotive sheet. Since its start-up (2011), the Plant has mastered the production and it has accepted more than thirty new steel grades for the automotive industry, and today it can compete confidently not only with Russian, but also with major foreign suppliers of steel products.
Now metal of MMK is demanded for automotive production by such Russian companies as AvtoVAZ, GAZ, UAZ, KamAZ, as well as Ford, Volkswagen, Renault and Nissan - the world's auto giants have their own production in Russia.
"We expect that additional support for our work on the displacement of imports in 2015 will be made by a devaluation of the ruble", - said Deputy General Director of Sales, Nikolai Lyadov. - We are ready to offer localized automakers in Russia the best correlation of price and quality in comparison with foreign analogs.
