Tesoro approves Anacortes MX project

OREANDA-NEWS. Tesoro's board of directors approved a \$300mn project to extract 15,000 b/d of mixed xylenes at its Anacortes, Washington, refinery by 2017.

Tesoro will ship the MX produced in Anacortes to Asia, where MX demand is growing.

The refiner also approved a \$90mn naphtha isomerization project at the site to help meet upcoming reduced sulfur gasoline regulations, the San Antonio, Texas-based company announced today. Start up of the isomerization project is expected in 2018.
