“We’re excited to offer customers on our London flights the chance to enjoy some fresh and exciting wines, all of which provide a perfect pairing with our in-flight dining options,” said Robyn Klein, Delta’s Managing Director of On Board Services. “We know our customers have discerning palates and this opportunity to explore new wines and enjoy a unique selection of well-known vintages is one of a number of ways in which we are working to enhance the in-flight experience for international premium passengers.”

“Customers on Delta’s London routes appreciate fine wines and I’ve selected two of my favourites from the Bordeaux region and two sensational wines from Italy and California to start our exclusive wine program in style,” said Master Sommelier, Andrea Robinson.  “We select wines that hold up well at 30,000 feet, so that you can be sure they’ll taste as great in air as they do at the Ch?teau.”

In addition to the featured wines, BusinessElite customers can enjoy the champagnes, ports and dessert wines offered on all international and trans-continental flights.  These currently include: Champagne Jacquart Brut Mosa?que, Reims, France NV; Banfi Rosa Regale, Piedmont, Italy 2013; and Quinta de la Rosa Tawny Porto, Portugal NV.  Delta customers on flights between the U.S. and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport will also enjoy the exclusive wine selection, while another series of wines has been selected exclusively for customers on Delta flights between Sydney and Los Angeles.

The selection of the BusinessElite wines is part of a rigorous annual evaluation during which Delta Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson evaluates more than 1,600 wine submissions from around the world. Robinson considers many different features and factors during the process, including the complexity and intensity of the wine, aesthetic details such as the image of the wine bottle and its label, and logistics such as the amount of production necessary to meet Delta’s needs. The wines are paired with Delta’s world-class cuisine, which features entr?es from distinguished chefs including chef Michelle Bernstein, Napa Valley restaurateur Michael Chiarello, Atlanta-based chef Linton Hopkins and New York’s barbecue mecca Blue Smoke.
