CN crude train derails, catches fire
OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2015. A Canadian National Railway (CN) 100-car train carrying crude derailed yesterday, catching fire about 30 miles north of Gogama in northern Ontario.
An estimated 29 cars were involved in the derailment, with seven on fire. Seventy-one of the cars have been moved away from the derailment site. The derailment occurred in a remote area, with no reports of injuries or community impacts.
The train was visually inspected four times and passed over a wayside safety detector approximately 20 miles before the derailment with no issues identified, CN said.
