Volkswagen started the pre-serial production of engines in Kaluga
OREANDA-NEWS. The Volkswagen Group has launched the production of the first lots of internal combustion engines at a plant in Kaluga, which will be opened in 2015.
Pre-series engines will focus on climate and road tests, the company informed "Za rulem.RF". Opening of a new engine production with the investment of 250 million Euros will allow Volkswagen to increase the degree of localization of cars, manufactured in Russia.
Currently engines for Russian cars of Group are delivered from abroad. "At the moment equipment is installed in the engine plant and it is adjusting" - said the worker of Volkswagen. The company also reported that in the second quarter of 2015 Volkswagen will start deliveries of spare parts and accessories from its own warehouse located in Chekhov, Moscow region. The company has already completed its construction and it prepared all necessary documents.
The Volkswagen Group in Russia sells its vehicles under the brands of Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini.
The company in Kaluga produces Volkswagen Tiguan, Polo Sedan and Skoda Rapid. Also Volkswagen at the facilities of "GAZ Group" assembles Skoda Yeti, Octavia and Volkswagen Jetta. As it was reported before, the group in 2015 planned to continue the assembly in SKD-regime of vehicles Audi Q3, Q5, A6, A7 and A8 in Kaluga. The total investments have reached 1.3 billion Euros, and by 2019 it will be sent to the Russian company of the Group other 1.2 billion Euros.
