Yota Devices has signed a contract with PotevioOREANDA-NEWS. The company Yota Devices had announced the completion of a deal for the transfer of Russian consumer electronics to China, one of the largest of its kind in the field of Russian high-tech equipment. The contract, signed with the state company Potevio, facilitates the sale of YotaPhone 2 smartphones in China.

Under the terms of the contract, Potevio will sell and provide marketing support for YotaPhone 2 throughout China.

"Entering the Chinese market, an opportunity that all major smartphone manufacturers in the world fight for, is of course an important and crucial step for a young company. The contract with Potevio allows us to speak confidently about high interest for our products in the region, as well as China's desire to cooperate with Russia in the field of innovative electronics,” said Vladislav Martynov, CEO of Yota Devices.

According to the Rostec Corporation CEO Sergey Chemezov, Chinese specialists, who are the leaders in microelectronics, were able to facilitate mass production of the product while also ensuring its high quality. The signed contract for the production of the device indicates the presence of a serious demand for Russian high-tech products abroad, particularly in China.

“Today in Russia, a new strategic industry is underway in high-tech gadget production, now not only for the military, but also for the civil sphere, where we are able to compete in world markets. The intellectual component behind the new devices is entirely Russian, as the Russian company owns more than 35 product patents for the concept, development, and design,” said Sergey Chemezov.

Potevio ranks among the three largest distributors of mobile electronics in China. In 2014, the company sold 36 million mobile phones, with annual revenue close to 46 billion Yuan (\$7.3 million).

“The introduction of YotaPhone 2 to the Chinese market, as well as the partnership with Yota Devices, is a welcome development and a true marker of developing relationship between our countries. We are pleased to promote in China YotaPhone 2, the first owner of which was Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who received the smartphone as a gift from President Vladimir Putin in November 2014.

The Chinese market indicated a strong demand for YotaPhone 2 even before the start of international sales of the smartphone. Competition and segmentation in consumer electronics in China are quite high, and experienced users have the opportunity to be among the first in the world to receive flagship models from leading manufacturers. They monitor trends in the mobile industry at almost a professional level,” said Potevio Vice President Shan Zhao. “We can say that YotaPhone 2 secured a high demand even before its availability thanks to the unique idea of two screens.”

Russian specialists developed the concept behind YotaPhone 2. The phone uses Russian patents in the architecture of its hardware and software, unique design, and defensive measures against unauthorized access of personal user data on the smartphone. Thus, this special YotaPhone version comes equipped with software that makes the smartphone entirely unique in terms of security, as it is protected from unauthorized access and downloading of data.

An official presentation of YotaPhone 2 in China is planned for the near future.
