SNEPCo Boosts Medical Training at UNILAG
OREANDA-NEWS. Training of doctors has been made much easier at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, thanks to the provision of an ultra-modern audio-visual studio by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo). The studio will be used to record lectures and helps to provide a more learning friendly platform, making it easier for students to access information around the world.

"The project is another demonstration of our commitment to quality education," said SNEPCo's Business Relations Manager, Ijere Kanu, as he represented the Managing Director of the company, Tony Attah at the commissioning of the facility on February 5. "It is our tradition in SNEPCo to ensure that Nigerians - individuals and institutions - benefit from our presence, and together with our partners, we will continue to expand opportunities for students across Nigeria as part of our broader corporate sustainability programmes."
In an address he sent to the occasion, Group General Manager, NAPIMS, Engr, Jonathan Okehs said: "We will continue to support projects that will affect the lives and future of the citizens of Nigeria positively just as the audio-visual studio we're commissioning."
A major goal in medical education is to improve teamwork and the love for lifelong learning. And research has shown that students cannot only learn by reading but also by audio-visual where they can interact and engage in intellectual discussions. This is where we need an ultra-modern audio-visual studio and we are grateful to SNEPCo and NAPIMS for helping to bring our dream to fruition.

SNEPCo's donation involves the provision of soundproof padding, high quality video and audio recorders, editing hardware and software, monitor, wireless microphones, speakers, air conditioners and general studio furniture. SNEPCo also awards scholarships to Nigerian undergraduate and postgraduate students, and provides entrepreneurial and skill-acquisition to promote self-employment among youths.
The College of Medicine at the University of Lagos has produced over 7000 medical, dental and allied health professionals in over 50 years of existence.
