Government proposes amendments to the State Budget for supporting IDPs
OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2015. The Government of Ukraine is to propose amendments to the State Budget for supporting internally displaced persons. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said this at an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine attended by President of Ukraine Poroshenko, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroysman, the heads of the regional state administrations on Wednesday, February 11.
The Prime Minister has stressed that more than a million people moved from the territories under temporarily control of the terrorists to other parts of Ukraine.
He reminded that temporarily displaced persons are being paid a lump sum, every month the Government pays off UAH884 for the disabled and half that amount - for the able-bodied, as well as allocates funds for the maintenance of stay places for internally displaced persons, including those that Ukraine received as international aid. "It's billions of funds," he underlined.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk has highlighted that the state budget doesn’t possess enough money in order to support internally displaced persons. "We are to amend the state budget," he informed.
The Prime Minister reminded that due to Russian military aggression Ukraine lost 20% of her economy: "The war in the country takes the lives of people, as well as destroys the economy."
At the same time, Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed the Government pays off pensions and salaries, "It is the responsibility of the Government. We pay all social benefits."
The Prime Minister said that the main thing in order to make power "work as one single machine": "Everyone should know, what responsibility and efficiency mean. Our task is to bring the confidence in the future, protect the state, protect the future, make changes that are being expected by millions."
