OREANDA-NEWS. According to figures from 2014, passenger traffic at Pulkovo Airport hit a record high, reaching 14,264,732 passengers. This is an amount 11% higher than in 2013.

It also showed approximately similar amounts of passenger traffic on international and domestic airlines for the previous year.

Passenger traffic on international airlines from January - December 2014 grew by 1.2% as compared with 2013's indicator, totaling 7,107,021 passengers.

Passenger traffic on domestic airlines in 2014 grew by 22.8% as compared with 2013's indicator, totaling 7,157,711 passengers.

From January - December 2014, the number of takeoff and landing operations grew by 7.2% as compared with the same indicator in the previous year, with a total reaching 147,415. The amount of the serviced maximum take-off weight reached 5,150,226 tons, an amount 8.7% more than in the same period in 2013.

In 2014, three new air-carriers came to Pulkovo Airport: Moskovia Airlines, GermanWings, and TapPortugal. Twelve new destinations were opened, including flights to Kirov, Kursk, Petrozavodsk, Saransk, Nizhnevartovsk, Novy Urengoy, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Kurgan, Lisbon, Termez, Lipetsk, and Irkutsk.

In 2014, Moscow, Simferopol, Sochi, Kaliningrad, and Arkhangelsk were among the most sought-after domestic destinations.

Antalya, Hurghada, Frankfurt am Main, Sharm-el-Sheikh, and Larnaca were among the most popular foreign destinations.

It was in the middle of the summer, specifically on July 11th, when the peak load day of the year was hit. On this day alone, the airport provided services to 62,083 people.

Lufthansa, O'zbekiston Havo Yo'llari (Uzbekistan Airways), Emirates, AirBerlin, and Turkish Airlines were the top 5 foreign companies operating flights from/to Pulkovo Airport. The total number of passengers serviced by these air-carriers in 2014 amounted to 1,043,934 people.

In 2014, the top 5 Russian air-carriers at Pulkovo were Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot Russian Airlines, Transaero Airlines, UTair Group, and Siberia Airlines. In those 12 months, these air-carriers together transported 9,082,480 passengers (around 64% of the entire passenger traffic).

In total for the previous year, 70 air-carriers operated flights from the airport on 159 routes.

In December 2014, passenger traffic at Pulkovo Airport reached 932,134 passengers, an amount 8.5% higher than in December 2013.

Passenger traffic on international airlines saw a decrease of 4.7% as compared with the same period in 2013, totaling 385,038 passengers.

Passenger traffic on domestic airlines showed growth of 20.3% as compared with December 2013's indicator, totaling 547,096 passengers.

In December 2014, the number of takeoff and landing operations grew by 3.1% as compared with the indicator from December 2013, reaching 11,250. The amount of the serviced maximum take-off weight reached 382,470 tons, which is 6.9% more as compared with the same period of 2013.

During the last month of 2014, Moscow, Kaliningrad, Arkhangelsk, Simferopol, and Murmansk were among the most sought-after domestic destinations.

Hurghada, Sharm-el-Sheikh, Frankfurt am Main, Munich, and Kiev were among the most popular foreign destinations.
