Vestas Secures 106 MW Order in Brazil
OREANDA-NEWS. Vestas will install 53 units of its V110-2.0 MW turbine at five wind farms located in Rio Grande do Norte: Cabeço Preto III, V and VI and Macambira I and II.
With reference to Vestas Wind Systems A/S' company announcement No. 6/2015 of 4 February 2015, Vestas has received a firm and unconditional 106 MW order for 53 V110-2.0 MW wind turbines for five wind farms located in the northeast of Brazil. Cabeço Preto combined will have a total installed capacity of 70 MW and Macambira, 36 MW. The order was placed by Gestamp Eólica S.L, a subsidiary of the Spanish-based Gestamp Wind.
The contracts include supply and installation of the wind turbines as well a 10-year full-scope service agreement featuring the Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 offering. AOM 4000 is a comprehensive service package including all necessary main components and material to maximise uptime and performance of the wind farms.
Turbine delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2016, whilst commissioning and the commencement of clean energy production is expected in the second quarter (Cabeço Preto) and third quarter (Macambira) of 2016. Cabeço Preto and Macambira will have an estimated gross annual production of 390 GWh and 195 GWh respectively, thus providing electricity to approximately 200,000 people in Brazil.
"This new order strengthens our position in Brazil and proves that the V110-2.0 MW turbine is a very competitive product in this market", says Marco Graziano, President of Vestas Mediterranean. "We continue offering technological leadership and expertise to local developers in Brazil".
Gestamp Wind is one of the biggest independent power providers in Brazil, with a total of 456 MW of wind energy order intake. Its 150 MW under operation primarily utilise Vestas turbines. Gestamp Wind continues trusting Vestas' cutting-edge technology for these new projects in Brazil.
