Boeing will retain all cooperation programs with VSMPO-AVISMA
VSMPO-AVISMA and Boeing began their cooperation in 1993. Today, the Russian Corporation provides up to 40% of the titanium demand of the American company. In 2006, a joint treatment facility for titanium forgings, Ural Boeing Manufacturing, was established in the town of Verkhnyaya Salda. The company invested approximately 70 million dollars into this project. The company is engaged in rough machining of titanium forgings. This product is manufactured by VSMPO-AVISMA for the latest Boeing 787 Dreamliner, as well as for Boeing 737 MAX and Boeing 777.
"Sanctions is a legal document that defines what is prohibited and what is permitted. Naturally, American corporations strictly follow the government guidelines. But it is not prohibited for us to work with Rostec, and we continue with almost all existing strategic partnerships programs. Rostec has been and remains our strategic partner,” said Sergey Kravchenko.
According to him, only in Moscow, Boeing employs more than 2,000 people. "If you take our big projects with Rostec Corporation and VSMPO-AVISMA, you will probably see that Boeing projects involve over 50,000 people,” he noted.
VSMPO-AVISMA and Boeing have also created an innovative research center for titanium technology. In July 2014, a contract for the supply of VSMPO titanium to the American aircraft manufacturer was extended until 2022.
VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation is the world's largest producer of titanium, ingots and all kinds of semi-finished products made from titanium alloys, as well as large-size extruded aluminum products, semi-finished products of alloy steel and heat-resistant nickel-based alloys. It is a member of Rostec Corporation.
