OREANDA-NEWS. February 04, 2015. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk stands for the establishment of the position of a Vice Prime Minister for European integration, who will be responsible for the advancement of European reforms in Ukraine. The Head of Government said at the meeting of the National Reforms Council.

A basis for carrying out the reforms in Ukraine was called by Arseniy Yatsenyuk the Association Agreement with the EU, "This is the core document that determines the path of Ukraine to the European Union. To implement this document the parliamentary coalition has prepared a significant and comprehensive coalition agreement, which laid the foundation for the Government’s Action programme and subsequent laws submitted by the Government to Parliament".

"All what has to be done is written in the Association Agreement, the coalition agreement, the Government’s Action programme while the key and basic parameters of what is to be achieved by the country have been determined by the President of Ukraine in Strategy-2020", he stressed.

A mechanism of implementation of reforms, according to the Prime Minister, has been elaborated by the Government primarily to ensure the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that each Ministry has an elected on a competitive basis Deputy Minister for European integration. According to him, most of them are fluent in English, many of them had work experience abroad, "These are the people who are personally responsible for the implementation of the Association Agreement".

The Deputy Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers for European integration is in charge of this direction.

"I hope that in the Government there will be the position of the Vice Prime Minister for European integration, who would actually be answerable for the advancement of European reforms in Ukraine", stressed the Head of Government.

He noted that the members of the National Council "bear political responsibility for pursuing the reforms", "It is the responsibility entrusted to us by the people of Ukraine, and it is vital in the process of implementing the reforms, instead of looking for "the one to be responsible", to search a way out of the situation that is objectively very difficult nowadays. It is difficult as a result of the country having lost 20% of the economy, a result of Ukraine suffering from military intervention backed by the Russian Federation".

“The general economic, political and military situation requires from us to demonstrate high responsibility, coordination and co-action. That is why the unity and joint action are prerequisites to further reforms", said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
