OREANDA-NEWS. Cathay Pacific Airways announced today that Anna Thompson will take up the position of Director Flight Operations on 10 April, with responsibility for all aspects of the airline's flight operations. She takes over the role from Richard Hall, who is retiring from the airline after 27 years of service.

Ms Thompson is currently General Manager Aircrew in Cathay Pacific's Flight Operations Department - a position she took up in August 2013. She will continue to act in that role until a successor is announced.

Prior to taking up her current role, Ms Thompson was Chief Operating Officer of Air Hong Kong, an all-cargo carrier in which Cathay Pacific has a majority holding. She was responsible for the strategic, tactical and operations management of Air Hong Kong.

Ms Thompson joined Cathay Pacific in August 1990. Since then she has held a number of senior positions within Cathay Pacific ranging from worldwide airport operations to sales and marketing, as well as managing the airline's operations in different countries.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Ivan Chu said: "We are pleased to announce Anna Thompson's appointment in the role of Director Flight Operations, overseeing one of the most important aspects of our airline's operations. Her extensive experience within the airline will certainly add strength and depth to our senior management team.

"I would like to offer our sincere thanks to Captain Richard Hall for his great contribution to the airline since joining in 1988. We wish him all the best in his retirement."
