OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2015. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has instructed the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and Zaporizhia regional state administration to find a way how to reduce electricity tariffs in the modular camp for IDPs in Zaporizhia.

The Head of the Government told this at a visiting session of the State Emergency Commission in Zaporizhia on Monday, 2 February.

He has informed that he along with Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Dr. Christoph Weil and Zaporizhia local officials inspected the modular camp for IDPs, which came as humanitarian aid from Germany: "German Chancellor Angela Merkel was personally engaged in it."

In general, 500 people can be accommodated in this camp.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk has expressed his appreciation to the local authorities for rapid connection of the module camp to the power grid.

However, he has emphasized, the cost of keeping one person in this camp is about UAH500, and 80% of this amount is the cost of electricity, "To pay UAH500 for only one bed for a month is, to put it mildly, expensive."

The Prime Minister has noted that in Kharkiv the cost per person in the modular camp is approximately UAH100 per month.

"When it’s about compensation from the budget - let's discuss it. If it is necessary to consider a special tariff for electricity - it should not undermine the whole energy market. On the one hand, there are two key power stations, on the other - the cost of electricity and maintenance of one place for IDPs is the highest across the country," he stressed.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk has instructed the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and Zaporizhia regional state administration to find a way how to reduce tariffs.
