OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2015. Kaspersky Lab is pleased to announce the results of 22 tests carried out by independent research companies in Q4 2014. The experts tested Kaspersky Lab’s security solutions and those of other vendors: they analyzed how effectively popular security products detect new, unknown malware including mobile malware, protect against phishing and financial threats, and how they affect device performance.

AV-Comparatives

In Q4 2014, AV-Comparatives published the results of its long-term Whole Product Dynamic Real-World Protection Test, which ran from August to November 2014. Throughout the testing period the researchers shared the intermediate results, which showed that Kaspersky Internet Security was highly effective at blocking the threats it faced. As a result, during the 4-month testing, Kaspersky Lab product detected 99.4% of the threats and did not generate a single false positive, earning the product an Advanced+ rating.

Kaspersky Internet Security was awarded yet another Advanced+ certificate for the September 2014 File Detection Test, in which the product successfully blocked 99.7% of threats.

Kaspersky Internet Security got its third Advanced+ award from AV-Comparatives for its performance in the October Performance Test. The researchers measured the performance of a PC with a security solution activated in different scenarios and compared it with the performance of a PC on which no protection solution had been installed. As a result, the computer with Kaspersky Internet Security installed scored 97.7 out of a possible 100 points for a computer without any security solution.

In addition, AV-Comparatives tested the ability of security products to detect phishing pages. The company did not assign awards; it just evaluated the effectiveness of filtering unwanted links. Fourteen solutions participated in this test, and Kaspersky Internet Security was one of just two products to achieve the best result (90%).

AV-Comparatives also released a brief overview of solutions for small businesses. The researchers evaluated the level of protection provided by the solution and how easily system administrators could use its management console. Kaspersky Small Office Security earned an Approved certificate and the researchers emphasized the user-friendliness of the product’s integrated administration console.

In Q4 2014 AV-Comparatives published the results of its Malware Removal Test, an 8-month testing that ran from March till October. It was designed to evaluate how effectively different products could treat an infected computer. To do this, AV-Comparatives experts carefully studied samples of the most popular malware, infected a computer with each of them and then tried to install an anti-virus product to clean up the system. Kaspersky Internet Security received yet another Advanced+ certificate as a result of this test.

AV-Test

In July – August 2014, AV-Test carried out its Bi-Monthly Certification testing of Internet Security class solutions for corporate and home users of Windows 7 SP1. As a result, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 received an Approved Corporate Endpoint Protection certificate while Kaspersky Internet Security was not only awarded the ‘Certified’ status but also scored maximum points.

In tests of solutions for mobile devices Kaspersky Internet Security for Android AV-Test earned ‘Certified’ status in September and November.

MRG Effitas

In Q4 2014, MRG Effitas announced the results of two certification tests for Internet security solutions: 360 Assessment & Certification Programme. The tests ran in the second and third quarters and assessed the levels of protection against malware that targets online banking. It also included tests carried out using test samples of various Trojans, backdoors, ransomware, etc. Two different levels of certification were offered in the tests: the first level was awarded to products that could block all infection attempts, and the second level was achieved by solutions that could detect the threat before the first reboot of the PC. In the Q2 test Kaspersky Internet Security was one of just two products to earn a level one certificate; in Q3 it was the only solution to achieve this.

Dennis Technology Labs

In Q4 2014, Dennis Technology Labs published the results of two certification tests. The first one ran from July to September; the second one from October to December. Both of them tested security solutions for home users as well as for small businesses and enterprises. According to the results of both tests, Kaspersky Internet Security, Kaspersky Small Office Security and Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business received the top AAA certificates.
