Konecranes Introduces UNITON Overhead Crane
OREANDA-NEWS. Konecranes has applied its more than 80 years of experience in building overhead cranes for heavy-duty lifting applications and process industries to introduce UNITON, a new heavy-duty, overhead industrial crane for a wide range of industrial applications. Using a modular construction concept with multiple trolley configurations, UNITON can be tailored to meet customers' unique needs.
"We've been listening closely to our customers. With UNITON, we are providing them with a competitive crane that can be adapted to be just right for their specific operations," said Marko Tulokas, SVP, Product and Application Management, Industrial Equipment. "UNITON offers a very competitive, heavy-duty solution without compromising quality."
Maintenance-friendly trolley
The built-up trolley design is user-friendly for service. UNITON's modular configuration and straightforward assembly techniques facilitate easy maintenance. Konecranes UNITON cranes are available in a wide range of load and duty class options, hoisting speeds and lifting heights. It can lift from 6.3 to 160 tons with a single trolley and up to 320 tons with two trolleys.
Range of operator interfaces
The operator interface can be selected from a large variety of pendants and radio controls to suit both the application requirements and the operator's level of experience. UNITON is also available with different cab options, from cost-efficient open cabins for an operator using a radio control to an advanced, air-conditioned cabin with controls integrated into the operator's chair.
Extended Speed Range as option
UNITON's inverter drives provide a smooth lifting experience and reduce wear on mechanical components. As an optional feature, Extended Speed Range (ESR) and ESR+ allow for higher lifting and lowering speeds when loads less than the rated load are handled. This feature allows UNITON to reduce utility costs without sacrificing performance.
Built for the customer's environment
Konecranes designs and builds each UNITON crane for the ambient conditions of the customer's operation, defined by the application and environment in which the crane will operate. So factors like temperature, humidity and corrosive elements are anticipated during manufacturing, which helps to extend the lifetime of the crane and to prevent breakdowns due to premature aging of components.
"Our goal with UNITON is to offer our customers an adaptable crane that meets their unique needs, from purchase to performance, with the quality, reliability, safety features and ease-of-use that people have come to expect from Konecranes," said Tulokas.
The UNITON is initially being launched in North America and in selected Asian countries. The plan is to introduce the UNITON to other countries in the near future.
