OREANDA-NEWS. Over the New Year holidays of January 1-11, 2015 Joint Stock Company Freight One increased the volume of freight transportation in boxcars on the Russian railways network to 131 thousand tonnes, up 16% year-on-year. Freight turnover in this segment increased 30% and amounted to 25 million tonnes/km.

The Company increased performance through expanding the range of goods transported in boxcars, as well as through targeted operations with our consignors.

In particular, transportation of non-ferrous metals over the holidays surged 12 times y-o-y, reaching 25 thousand tonnes, transportation of cement shot up 3.7 times, totaling 12.5 thousand tonnes, ferrous metals soared 2.8 times to 4.6 thousand tonnes. Significant growth was also shown by foodstuffs, industrial raw materials, non-ferrous ores, salt, fruits and vegetables.
