OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has launched the 3G network in commercial operation in Nizhniy Novgorod. Starting from 29 January the company’s subscribers may use high-speed wireless Internet at affordable prices.

The company has provided stable coverage of the 3G network in Nizhniy Novgorod and 30 residential areas. The operator has installed and launched the new equipment, upgraded existing base stations and backhaul over a short period of time.

Tele2 has offered two new tariffs to its Nizhniy Novgorod subscribers − “Black” and “Dark Black”. They include fixed volume of Internet traffic, minutes and SMS.

The company has created a new range of Internet options for those who want to use high-speed data without switching to a new tariff. Tariffs differ in volume of included Internet traffic (1 GB and 3 GB per month at 3G speeds), a number of minutes and SMS. For example “Package - 5 GB” and “Package – 10 GB” offer 5 GB and 10 GB of Internet traffic at a maximum speed of 42 Mbit/second with a monthly fee at 180 rubles and 250 rubles relevantly.

Ravil Khaybullin, CEO at Volga macroregion: “Today we have offered high-speed wireless Internet to our subscribers in Nizhniy Novgorod. Tele2 has developed a product that entirely meets needs of our future and current subscribers. It is simple, easy-to-use and doesn’t contain any hidden conditions. The company’s main task for 2015 is to improve the quality of connections and increase the 3G network coverage in order to make high-speed wireless Internet available to as many subscribers as possible. By the end of June we are planning to more than double a number of base stations.”

The 3G launch resulted from integration of Tele2 and Rostelecom mobile assets which led to setting up a new federal operator. In 2014 Tele2 launched 3G networks in St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk and Tambov. The operator also launched the 4G network in LTE 1800 MHz standard in Tula. Thereby the company has implemented a technology neutrality principle that allows rollout of new generation networks at GSM frequencies. In 2015-2016 high-speed wireless Internet will be available to subscribers in most Russian regions.
