OREANDA-NEWS. Metalloinvest has purchased modern orthopaedic equipment for the Alyonushka kindergarten in Melavoe village in Gubkin. The equipment was acquired using a grant awarded to the kindergarten after it won a children’s health project competition as part of Metalloinvest’s Healthy Child programme.

The Healthy Feet project, developed by pre-school teachers, is aimed at preventing platypodia, as well as improving children’s immunity. Thanks to the new equipment, a special physical exercise course will take place at the kindergarten – a daily morning warm-up for the feet. The impact on the sensory points of the feet activates nerve reflexes and triggers self-regulation systems. The exercise course is designed for various age ranges.

Svetlana Tyuk, the headmistress at Alyonushka, commented: “The project will continue until June 2015. We are already seeing reduced illness at the kindergarten. The children are falling ill less often and come in every day. I want to express my gratitude to Metalloinvest for its support, thanks to which our Healthy Feet project will be implemented in full.”

This is the third year that Metalloinvest’s Healthy Child programme is being implemented jointly with the Gubkin town administration. During this time, the number of programme participants has increased significantly. 30 projects on children’s health were presented at the competition in September. Metalloinvest awarded grants amounting to one million roubles to the winners, which are aimed at financing the projects presented.

Note to Editor:

Healthy Child programme is an important part of Metalloinvest’s social investments under tripartite socio–economic partnership agreement between the Company and town and regional administrations. The main aim of the programme is to create an efficient and comprehensive system leading to improvements in children’s healthcare and decreasing the number of child illnesses. The programme envisages the introduction of modern methods of working with children; the improvement of qualifications of selected specialists, including preschool teachers and medical workers; the involvement of parents and members of wider community in promotion of healthy lifestyle; inoculation of schoolchildren, using modern vaccines; and the upgrades of sports facilities and kindergarten play grounds.

The programme has been implemented in Zheleznogorsk in the Kursk region since 2011. In 2013, it was launched in Gubkin, and, in 2014 - in Stary Oskol in the Belgorod region.
