OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2015. Cargo carriers of all kinds transported 1 million 266.6 thousand tonnes in December, 2014, down 15.5% month-on-month and down 7.2% against December 2013, it was said to at the National Bureau of Statistics.

A volume of motor car cargo transportation in Moldova increased by 11.1% to 9 million 193.5 thousand tonnes in the reporting period. The biggest amount - 47.3% - was transported by hauliers of Chisinau. Then follow Balti – 6.8%, the regions of Singera – 10%, Floresti – 6.6%, Ialoveni – 5.1%, Nisporeni – 3.7%, Straseni – 3.2%, Riscani – 2.4%, Orhei – 1.7%, Edinet – 1.6%, Taraclia – 1.4%, Rezina – 1.3%, Soroca – 1.1%, Cimislia and Causeni – 1% each. In 2014, over 5 million tonnes were transported by railway, down 7.8% against 2013.

The biggest share in a total amount of cargo loaded at railway stations of Moldova fell on crops and flour products and amounted to 43.2% (against 44.1% in 2013); they were followed by ferrous metal and scrap metal (12.4% against 15.3%) and building materials and cement (9.6% against 10.9%). The volume of barge cargo transportation increased 39.7% to 227,200, the air cargo transportation shrinking 36.7% to 0.8 thousand tonnes.
