OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2015. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the last-year increase is explained by 10.4% higher volumes of plant products and 4% higher volumes of livestock ones.

The share of plant products in the gross output was 67% in 2014 against 66% in 2013, the share of the livestock products being 33% against 34% respectively. The harvest of cereals and pulses increased 8.9% to 2 million 910 thousand tones. The harvest of wheat increased 9.1% to 1.1 million tonnes, the harvest of maize growing 7.8% to 1.55 million tonnes. In the reporting period the harvest of sunflower increased 10.1% to 559,000 tonnes, the harvest of sugar beets rising 14.7% to 1 million 158 thousand tonnes.

The harvest of soya beans rocketed 70.2% to 111,000, the rape harvest ballooned 59.4% to 68,000 tonnes, the harvest of potatoes increased 11.8% to 268,000 tonnes, the harvest of vegetables grew 10.2% to 329,000, the harvest of fruit, nuts and berries increased 17.2% to 495,000 tonnes. At the same time the harvest of grapes reduced 3.1% to 594,000 tonnes, the tobacco output reduced 36.6% to 1,400 tonnes. In the reporting period, the growth in the agricultural output was contributed to by higher than average capacity of the plant products. In particular, the capacity grew 43.8% for sugar beets, 395% for rape, 25.3% for soya, 16.9% for potatoes, 14.5% for wheat and 6.5% for maize.

The 4% increase in the livestock output was formed by the 7.3% growth in cattle and poultry breeding which amounted to 176,000 tonnes of live weight and by the 3.4% in the egg production that reached 645 million eggs. The milk output reduced 0.9% to 524 million due to a contraction in the total number of caws in households.

As the statistics show, 39% of the total agricultural output was produced at agricultural enterprises, 18% at farms and 43% in households. The livestock production in households amounted to 74% of the total volume. Last year, as before, agricultural enterprises produced the bulk of sugar beets (93%), rape (93%), tobacco – 85%, soya beans – 77%, sunflower -73% and grain and pulses, maize excluded – 73%. At the same time, 85% of potatoes, 84% of vegetables, 77% of grapes, 69% of maize, 96% of milk and 62% of eggs were produced at households and farms.
