OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2015. Throughout 2014 Kola GMK (MMC Norilsk Nickel affiliate) has spent a total of over RUB 1 billion towards new equipment for its enterprises by purchasing in excess of 900 pieces of machinery.

To improve mining productivity at Severny Mine the company procured: heavy-duty underground haulers, LHDs, long hole drifter drill, fixed guniting unit, drop-bottom mine cars. Newly installed equipment at the refining shop included: electric filter, junction box kit, press filter. The concentrator plant commissioned hydrocyclones, electric slurry pumps, ladle loader truck, tracked bulldozer. Nickel electrowinning shop received a press filter and 40 polymer-concrete cells. The motor fleet was expanded with haulers, bulldozers, dump cars and railroad open box cars.

Upgrading operations is a top priority for Norilsk Nickel. By swapping to new machinery the company raises productivity while managing to improve safety.
